Hi and welcome to my blog :) Today I am sharing a card I have just made for my youngest daughter, who flew off today to go travelling again. I wanted to create something unusual with a vintage twist, which I know she likes, and Steampunk never disappoints! I have used stamps from Sheena Douglass' Time Traveller PP collection; Distress Inks, alcohol inks, Versafine ink, gold gilding wax.
I took a piece of white card and blended DI's all over it. I then used water to faux bleach and dried it with a heat gun. I stamped a compass randomly over the panel in 2nd generation DI, and did the same with a sentiment. I then edged the panel with DI.
Using another piece of white card I die cut a fob watch, goggles and balloon time machine. I then cut the chain off the fob watch, and stamped the corresponding images onto the die cuts, using a compass image instead of the fob watch.
I coloured the embellishments with alcohol pens, and added Glossy accents to the compass and portholes. I found a vintage map of the continent she is visiting and printed it out. I then used DI's to distress the edges. Then I used a craft knife to rip those edges, and folded the map making creases. I blended DI's over the rips and creases to add age and make it look like a genuine old map, and curled the corners around a cocktail stick.
I stamped a vintage corner image in the corners of the background panel, then matted it onto some burgundy card.
I took a white base card and blended DI around the edges, then stamped a sentiment around them too. I then attached the background panel to the card.
I added gold gilding wax to the goggles, and acetate for the lenses.
I added the map to the lower half of the card, and added all the embellishments using dimensional glue.
I stamped and embossed another sentiment onto a piece of white card, cut it into a pennant shape and blended DI around the edges. I went around the edges in alcohol pen as well then attached the pennant to the card.
I'm thrilled with the result, and my daughter loved it! (Phew!) I had a great time making this one and using all the different techniques! This is a great card to give to anyone going travelling, on a gap year, or emigrating, or maybe a retirement card.
Thank you for visiting my blog today, I hope you've enjoyed reading this post. I hope you'll come back again :)
